All visitors to Hong Kong must hold a passport that is valid for at least six months after the planned departure date from Hong Kong. Nationals of most countries do not require visas and can stay for periods varying from 7 days to 180 days, depending on nationality. Please visit the HKSAR Immigration Department for details.

Hong Kong dollars are the currency used. Occasionally, there are retail outlets and restaurants which may accept CNY with exchange rate specified. Certain foreign currencies may be accepted at a limited number of hotels. You can buy HKD at foreign currency exchange counters, banks, and other authorized money exchangers (eg. some hotel counters) on presentation of your passport. Banks are open on Monday to Saturday (am only), with exception of public holidays.
On the PolyU campus, you can find Hang Seng Bank and BEA. ATM of bank of China is also available in SHAW AMENTIES BUILDING (VA).
VISA / MasterCard / UnionPay (中國銀聯) are widely accepted at hotels, department stores, shops, and restaurants.
Electric current is uniformly 220 volts, 50Hz AC, throughout Hong Kong. The majority of electrical outlets in Hong Kong take a three-pronged plug. You can buy an inexpensive adapter for your equipment when you arrive in Hong Kong.
